Harare, (New Ziana) – The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has started issuing a newly redesigned Local Police Clearance Certificate, a move aimed at improving efficiency, security, and service delivery.
In a statement on Monday, national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the new clearance certificate, known as ZRP Form 143, is easily identifiable by its yellow colour and replaces the previously used clearance certificate.
Comm Nyathi said the newly introduced local certificate should not be confused with the International Police Clearance Certificate, which is issued under ZRP Form 143A.
“As such, fingerprints will continue to be released to the bearer under the International Police Clearance Certificate,” he said, adding that the local clearance certificate is strictly for use within Zimbabwe.
The introduction of the new certificate forms part of the ZRP’s broader operational policing reforms, which are designed to enhance service delivery and improve public access to police clearance services across the country.
Comm Nyathi further advised that the processing fee for police clearance certificates remains unchanged at US$5 for normal applications, which are processed within seven days, and US$10 for urgent applications, which are completed within three days.
“Members of the public should visit their nearest police station for guidance and clarification on the application process, as well as advice on the appropriate type of police clearance certificate required for their specific needs,” he said.
He said the latest development underscores the commitment of the ZRP to modernising services and responding efficiently to the evolving needs of the public.
