Harare (New Ziana)-The ruling Zanu PF on Wednesday accepted the apology by exiled former Cabinet Ministers Jonathan Moyo and Patrick Zhuwao, saying the two are welcome back to the ‘big tent’.

In a joint letter on Tuesday, the duo apologised to the ruling party for their utterances supporting opposition parties since the time they skipped the country in 2017 together with former Local Government Minister Saviour Kasukuwere.

Moyo and Zhuwao said they supported opposition leader Nelson Chamisa in the 2018 harmonised elections and well after, but however denied seeking to join his political party.

“For whatever it is worth, we supported Nelson Chamisa in the 2018 and well after that but we did not at any time in that process ever seek to join the MDC-A or his new CCC”, the two wrote.

In response, Zanu PF spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa said the apology was a ‘most welcome development’.

“This is the most welcome development. I salute the courage and candour coming from the two as penned in their joint letter. This is an endorsement of the sincere and visionary policies and programs espoused by President ED Mnangagwa, our ZANU PF Party leader.

“His message and conduct is coming across as he strives to unify the nation and reaches out to the wider world. We say the more the merrier in the all-embracing tent of ZANU PF, the mass party of the Zimbabwe Revolution. All Zimbabweans are equal in their varied capacities and talents. Better we join all our minds and hands in the noble task of building a new Zimbabwe,” said Mutsvangwa in a statement.

Moyo, Zhuwawo and Kasukuwere were the kingpins of the so-called G-40 faction of Zanu PF which was rabidly opposed to the ascendence of President Emmerson Mnangagwa to replace former President Robert Mugabe.
