THE Health and Child Care Ministry has reported an increase in Covid-19 cases after 146 people tested positive out of the tests conducted last week.

No deaths were recorded.
According to the Covid-19 daily Situational Report, out of the 1 771 tests conducted on Wednesday,
the country recorded 146 new cases, bringing the cumulative total to 262 709 cases.
Nearly all provinces recorded new cases, save for Midlands which had zero cases. Matabeleland
South and Midlands have the lowest incidence of COVID per capita.
Mashonaland East, which is second province with the highest number of Covid-19 cases after
Harare, recorded 40 new cases on Wednesday and was followed by Masvingo (27) and Manicaland
(24).
Though the national recovery rate stands at 97 percent, active cases have risen to 1 260.
A total of 5 658 people have succumbed to the deadly virus since the onset of the pandemic in
March 2020.
Meanwhile, 877 received the first dose on Wednesday bringing the cumulative to 6 600 478 who
have been vaccinated. A total of 639 received their second dose bringing cumulative to 4 963 049
while 1 449 received their third dose bringing cumulative for the booster shot to 1 304 636.
“The COVID-19 vaccination which was introduced in March 2021 is still continuing until all eligible
people are vaccinated and protected.
“The service remains available at all health facilities when there are no mass vaccination campaigns.
From time to time the Ministry of Health and Child Care conducts mass vaccination campaigns in
different communities,” said the Health Ministry.
