GWERU – Favourites, Telone continued from where they left during the first half of the Ruvimbo
Funeral Central Region Soccer League after beating Blanket Mine 2-0 at Ascot Stadium in Gweru.
The win stretched their lead at the top of the log to nine points as second placed Tongogara were
inactive. Tongogara, which was supposed to play Bishopstone has 27 points from 13 matches.
The Wifi Boys now have 36 points from 14 matches and will launch a serious bid to get promotion
into the Premier Soccer League.
Telone were also given points for their abandoned match with Shabanie Mine at Maglass Stadium
earlier this season after crowd trouble as they were leading 1-0.
ZPC Munyati kept their hopes alive with a 4-1 demolition of FC Platinum, which brought their points
to 25, a point less than third placed FC Platinum Under 19.
Chapungu United, which is in fifth place and 13 points adrift of leaders Telone continued its
disappointing show with a 1-1 draw with Amazon.
Kwekwe United beat sixth placed Dulibadzimu 3-0 at Zisco Stadium in Redcliff. They are in seventh
place.
In other matches, Loss Control beat Shabanie Mine 1-0 in a Zvishavane derby played at Maglass
Stadium. The match between CM Academy and Midlands State University also did not materialise.
