In today’s world, most women are obsessed with enhancing the way they look to feel more
confident and to hide their imperfections.
Tatenda Mainoti, popularly known as T Mynot, is aged 30 and is one of the well-known make-up
artists in Mashonaland Central Province, where she owns T Mynot Beauty Spa, which is in Bindura.
She is a make-up for a number of 3Ktv presenters.
T Mainoti said in an interview that she always wanted to be in the beauty industry since she was
young and at times she would even quarrel with her mother about it as she always had a passion for
the beauty industry.
I have always said I want to become one of the best make-up artists in the world, she explained.
Her make-up artist journey started in 2014, but her breakthrough was to come four years later in
2018 following the opening of her first Beauty Spa at Hala Select Hotel, Bindura in June 2021.
Ever since, she has been styling top celebrities in and around Bindura.
She is currently working with her cousin, Perlma, a professional masseuse with experience in the
same field in South Africa, where she worked for nearly a decade.
She grateful for the opportunity to rub shoulders with high-society figures because the interactions
and networking have had a huge impact on her business.
"At one time I was called to do make-up to a lady on a programme called Street Style on 3Ktv and I
was really nervous since it was my first time appearing on television but I tell you it's really a great
feeling. I thank God for that."
She has shown the works of her hands by doing makeup on some big people including news anchors
McDonald Gurure on ZBC-TV and Christina Nyirenda on 3Ktv.
Mainoti has been receiving positive responses from locals, although when she opened her business a
lot of people had questions and asked if they offered happy endings after the massage. It was tough
having to explain that T Mynot Beauty Spa was strictly for relaxation and therapy.
"I face so many challenges every day because sometimes I have people in every corner of the
country asking for my services and I find it very difficult because at the moment I am not driving but
at the same time I need to cater for them all," she explained.
T Mynot also offers tutorial for those who want to learn. "We do not want men to call us names
because of wrong make-up application nekuti hakuna mukadzi akashata."
She called on other women who want to venture in the same business to keep pushing no matter
what, even when it is difficult and that they should not be discouraged.
"Kare vanhu vaiita zvekupoda vainzi ipfambi, but today it's different and you might become big like
other make-up artists like Audrey the Makeup Artist and Violetta Sibanda," she added.
