TWO siblings from Gqalaza area are using the social media as means of marketing their clothing
business and this has paid dividends for them.
Great passion in fashion was the key driver for both sisters to start an online
clothing business in August 2021 by efficiently using their digital devices whilst in the comfort
of their homes.
One of the siblings, Patience Sibanda (25) is in Spitzkop North Extension, whilst her sister,
Privilege Sibanda, is based in South Africa.
They are now proud owners of Sibbs sisters’ boutique, the name being derived from their
surname, Sibanda which has created employment for the two.
The two are trending on the fashion scene in Gwanda and are not only satisfying the local market
but other towns such as Maphisa, Gwanda rural and even Bulawayo.
In an interview, Patience revealed that she was working well with her other sibling in South
Africa, from where clients’ orders are being generated.
Patience is using her accounting knowledge to keep the business going forward.
l am so into fashion. l love fashion a lot and it’s the same with my sister. She is also a fashion
lover and therefore we came up with an idea to be fashion dealers. With my sister based in South
Africa, it meant that the business could be done easier and we started to import goods from SA
for the local market," she said.
Patience said that despite having very little capital, this did not hinder them.
We invested our little capital that we had, to purchase little stuff whilst operating from home.
The business grew, which made us look for a shop at eMabhizeni Complex, where we could
easily access our customers,” explained Patience.
The siblings specialise in purchasing clothes through orders and they also stock various others in
their shop for impulse buyers.
Patience said that their rates were affordable and met the demands of all classes and also due to
their belief in “small profit quick returns policy” to move their stock faster.
We deal with people of different classes, where other people afford more than the other. In
order to make sure that everyone affords decent clothing, we therefore charge reasonable prices
as we believe in the policy of small profit, quick returns, which makes our stock move faster.
Our vision is to have shops in various cities all over the country,” she said while encouraging
young women to engage in a business rather other than being idle.
To all ladies out there, l encourage you to start your businesses. It’s not a big deal to start with
little money that you have. You can do something that can change your life completely,”
said Patience.
