Seven new schools in seven weeks

ASPIRING Mbire constituency Member of Parliament, David Butau, Zanu PF has
begun the construction of primary and secondary schools in Mbire District, the most
remote part of Mashonaland Central Province.
Here humans and wildlife co-exist but, respect each other, no one dares cross into
each other’s territory.
Schools are sparsely spread out and those who are at school come across
dangerous wild animals in many instances on their way to and from school.
Touched by this scenario, Butau has vowed to complete at least seven primary
schools before August 2023.
“I am a man of my words, by 23 August, those schools would be up and ready for
commissioning. I believe in community empowerment and that empowerment comes
only if people are educated,” he said.
He went on to guarantee President Emmerson Mnangagwa of a remarkable triumph
in Mbire, where out of the 36 000 registered voters, he said he will not get less than
35 000 votes.
Butau will serve his third term as a parliamentarian from this year until 2028, if he
wins. He has been a legislator twice before, representing the same constituency.
He said the cement for the construction of the schools will arrive in Mbire in the first
week of July and work will begin right away.
Speaking about the 35 000 votes or above, that he promised Zanu PF will deliver in
Mbire, Butau said:
“I am saying this today publicly, so that no one will allege rigging on the day the
results will be promulgated and indicating that the votes indeed are above 35 000.
He urged the Zanu PF electorate and supporters to campaign for the party
peacefully until voting day on August 23.
About the schools, Butau said he will construct more once in office.
“I am looking forward to my partners and business associates to continue supporting
me in the delivery of education and health services when l get into office.
“I am touched very much, every time l see early childhood development pupils
walking miles to school. This should end and at least after every two kilometres l
think l will establish an early childhood development centre,” he promised.
He also cited the need for a clinic in areas around Ward 16, including Bwazimonosi,
where villagers are always under threat from stray crocodiles during the rainy
season.
Meanwhile, people might be wondering how come Butau is representing Zanu PF in
the upcoming elections cognisant of the fact that he came out second during the
Mbire constituency primary elections held early this year.
The winner, Douglas Karoro has been benched due to his pending alleged criminal
case in the courts hence Butau was brought in. He came out second during the
primary elections.
Butau has less than two years in Zanu PF after he was chucked out of the liberation
party as a result of factionalism in 2014.

He said, “We were forced by factionalism out of the party that year however l am
very happy and fortunate that we have a First Secretary and his vice that follow logic
in terms of looking at issues and they saw that we were indeed victimised and should
not have gone through all those troubles and tribulations.”
