GWERU – The Criminal Investigations Department in Gweru has arrested four members of a six men
gang that had wreaked havoc in Ridgemont, Mtapa, Haben Park and Athlone Suburbs.
The four – Tanaka Masunda (23), Decent Muzanago (26), Lucia Masunda (40) and Talent Ngwenya
(18) all stayed at 14 Graize Road in Ridgemont.
The police are now hunting for Sylvester Mashoko (27) and Knowledge Tshuma (20) who are on the
run.
Midlands police said between March 2022 and January this year, the six were involved in break-ins,
theft and robbery cases in and around Gweru.
They would force doors open using iron bars. In other incidents, they would threaten complainants
with a pistol and rob them.
Resultantly, they allegedly stole household property that included 11 solar panels, six cellphones and
tablets, seven television sets, six gas tanks, five blankets and various kitchen utensils all valued at US
$15 168.
The gang’s luck however, ran out on January 23 when police picked information leading to the arrest
of the four.
Various property was recovered from their yard where they were hidden underground.
The recovered property included nine solar panels, six gas cylinders, a solar battery, 32inch TV, three
42 inch televisions, 24Volt battery, 1x HP laptop, three solar invertors, various clothing and kitchen
utensils all valued at US$11 550.
The police have appealed to the public who might have information that may lead to the arrest of
the outstanding two suspects both of 14 Graize Road Ridgemont to come forward.
