Harare (New Ziana) -The African Museum of Liberation is going to be one of the best tourist attractions in Zimbabwe, a senior government official said on Wednesday.
Speaking during a media tour of the Museum, Deputy Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Kindness Paradza said the Museum of African Liberation will be transformed to be the best tourist attraction, together with the National Heroes Acre.
“We are going to have a cable car that will be connecting tourists between the Museum and the national Heroes Acre.
“This area is going to be transformed into one of the best tourist attractions in Zimbabwe,” he said.
The Museum of African Liberation will be containing everything about the liberation of Zimbabwe and other African countries and also the history of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF).
Moreover, the Museum will act as an education centre for the youths who were born after independence as they do not have a clear understanding of the history of Zimbabwe.
Paradza also said his Ministry in coordination with the Liberation War Museum will use the Bhaiskop concept to raise awareness of the Museum in rural areas and areas that are remote.
“As we go into the rural areas, we could have Bhaiskops, by co-ordinating my Ministry with the Liberation War Museum, so that the people out there can have two scenarios, viewing the museum and viewing our Bhaiskop,” said Paradza.
Also speaking at the same event, the Institute of African Knowledge (Instak) Chief Executive Officer, Ambassador Kwame Muzawazi said the construction of the museum is one of the fastest moving major projects by the Second Republic.
“The museum itself has reached 12 percent threshold as of yesterday and as you may recall His Excellency (President Emmerson Mnangagwa) was here on 21 December last year where he laid the foundation stone.
“Since then, we hit the ground running.
“We are not stopping and it is also one of the few places where we are operating 18 hours a day and there will be no industrial recess,” said Muzawazi.
Muzawazi emphasised that time is not on their side in fulfilling the historic generational obligation of preservation, protection and promotion of the legacy of the revolution.
“On the liberation mall side, we have reached 30 percent in terms of the service station and the mall itself, preparatory works are well underway.
“Soon we will show you the ZDF Phase 1 which will be followed by Phase 2 and 3 respectively.
“There will be the ZDF Exhibition Park which will provide civilian military education,” he said.
Construction of the Museum of African Liberation started in July this year along with the construction of the Liberation Mall.
The complex will accommodate a host of facilities including a five-star hotel, amusement park, recreational park, animal park and presidential upmarket villas.
The monument is a dedication to all fallen veterans of the continent’s liberation wars and is meant to document wars fought in Africa in quest for self-governance.
Recently, a high-powered delegation from Instak led by Ambassador Muzawazi returned from Russia where they had gone for a partnership agreement with the Russian State University for the Humanities.
