THE Zimbabwe Senior Women’s National Team, the Mighty Warriors, have been drawn into Group B for the 13th edition of the HOLLYWOODBETS COSAFA Women’s Championship to take place in Polokwane, South Africa, from February 18 to March 1, 2026.
According to the official draw conducted on February 4, the Mighty Warriors will face defending champions Zambia, Botswana, and Eswatini in what is expected to be one of the most competitive groups of the tournament.
The Mighty Warriors last won the tournament in 2011.
“This group offers the Mighty Warriors a valuable opportunity to test themselves against strong opposition as part of their continued growth and international development,” said ZIFA in a statement.
Hosts South Africa headline Group A, where they will face Malawi, Lesotho and Angola, while Group C features Mozambique, Namibia and Madagascar.
The tournament format allows the top team from each group to advance to the semi-finals, along with the best runner-up across all three groups. Because Group C only has three teams, results against the bottom-placed sides in Groups A and B will not count when determining the best runner-up.
Zambia enter the 2025 edition as defending champions, while South Africa continues to be the most successful nation in the competition’s history, with seven titles.
The COSAFA Women’s Championship is the annual international women’s football competition for national teams in Southern Africa. Originally scheduled for fall 2025, the tournament was postponed to early 2026 due to host availability issues.
COSAFA announced that 11 countries will participate in the 2025 edition. Comoros, Mauritius, and Seychelles, who all featured in 2024, have opted out of this year’s tournament.
