Man assaults wife, hangs self

POLICE are investigating a case of suspected suicide involving a 42-year-old Bindura man
who reportedly assaulted his wife before hanging himself on 27 January 2023.
Allegations are that Wilbert Chikwanha assaulted his wife Privilege Moyo (28) on the day of
the tragedy after they had an altercation at their homestead in Woodbrooke.
On the same day around 7am Moyo reported a case of physical abuse at ZRP Chiwaridzo,
who attended the scene but could not locate Chikwanha.
An hour later on the same day, Roney Mashinge, who was on his way to work saw
Chikwanhas body hanging from a tree branch at Atherstone Farm, near Garikai stands.
Mashinge reported the matter at ZRP Chiwaridzo, who attended the scene together with CID
Bindura and the body was taken to Bindura Hospital mortuary.
The Police provincial spokesperson for Mashonaland Central, Inspector Milton Mundembe,
pleaded with members of the public to always seek counselling from the elders or the police
so that they can reach an amicable solution to their problems.
