Harare, (New Ziana) – The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development has announced a temporary closure of a section of Solomon Mujuru Road (formerly Kirkman Road) to allow for urgent road rehabilitation works aimed at improving safety and driving conditions.

In a public notice issued on Tuesday, the Ministry said the affected stretch runs from the N Richards turn-off to the Sanganayi Inn junction.

“The road will be temporarily closed throughout the day on Thursday, 5 February 2026, as construction teams carry out the rehabilitation works.

“Motorists are strongly advised to use alternative routes during the closure period and to allow extra travel time to cater for possible delays,” said the Ministry.

The Ministry urged all road users to exercise patience, observe caution, and comply with road signs as well as instructions from traffic controllers on site.

The rehabilitation forms part of the Government’s ongoing infrastructure upgrade programme, which seeks to enhance road safety, improve traffic flow, and extend the lifespan of major urban roads.

While acknowledging the inconvenience the temporary closure may cause, the Ministry expressed appreciation for the public’s cooperation and understanding, noting that the works are essential for long-term improvements to the road network.
