THE Zimbabwe Republic Police has warned members of the public to be wary of illicit beer as it is
very harmful to health and can lead to loss of lives.

The warning comes as a 54-year-old man from Kandare Village under Chief Kasekete, Muzarabani,
died after taking excess kachasu, an illicit alcohol.

Mashonaland Central Police spokesperson, Inspector Mundembe, confirmed that on 13 January in
the evening, Sebastian Foya visited a friend, Funwell Kuimba, of the same village.

The two proceeded to Mangani Chatinos home, where they ended up deciding to repair his cattle
pen.

Thereafter, the trio started drinking kachasu. They consumed four litres of it.
As a result Foya got into a drunken stupor leading to him finding difficulties in walking.
At around 2pm, he began to vomit. His friends tried to render first aid but unfortunately, two hours
later he was dead.
Insp. Mundembe encouraged the public to lower their beer uptake as they as drinking especially
illicit stuff is hazardous to health and causes loss of lives.
