GWERU – A director with a local company that was in the business of selling residential stands is on
the run after allegedly duping stand-seekers almost US$42 000.
Greynut Investments director Jameson Museke is now on the police wanted list after he allegedly
disappeared without parcelling out the stands to clients.
Midlands police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said they are treating the case as fraud.
He said the victims paid various amounts ranging from US$485 to US$7 690 as instalments for
residential stands from Greynut Investments, a company that was jointly owned by Jameson Museke
and Isaiah Mudzengi sometime in February 2018.
Mudzengi passed on sometime in 2021.
“The victims only came to know their fate when they made a follow up of their stands with the
company. A number of customers who claim to have paid various amounts towards the purchase of
stands were told that the company does not have stands for them,” Insp. Mahoko said.
The aggrieved clients made a report to the police who can not locate the surviving director Museke
whom they suspect is on the run.
“So far, 11 people have come forward complaining of having been duped in the stands scum. If there
are other people in the same predicament, may they also come forward to assist in the investigation
of the fraud report,” he said.
Insp. Mahoko appealed to those with information that may assist in locating and arresting Museke
to pass it to Gweru Central Police or any nearest police station.
Police have urged members of the public to always do due diligence when purchasing stands or
houses as there has been a mushrooming of bogus land developers and estate agents.
