Gweru (New Ziana) -The Gweru City Councilors on Tuesday elected Edson Kurebgaseka as new deputy mayor to replace Cleopas Shiri who was recalled last week by the Douglas Mwonzora led MDC-T.
Shiri was recalled together with Martin Chivhoko and John Manyundwa after the MDC-T accused them of no longer representing its interests.
Sources within the local authority confirmed that Kurebgaseka beat Jefta Zvidzai by eight votes to four.
Kurebgaseka will hold the post until general elections which have been set for between July and August next year.
