A gas tanker was involved in an accident 40km from Beitbridge along the Bulawayo road early this morning. The driver of the South African registered tanker was injured and is receiving medical attention at a local hospital.
Police Officer Commanding Beitbridge district, Melusi Ncube, confirmed the incident saying a supervised transfer of product to another tanker is underway, with emergency services on the scene.
Authorities from EMA and other organisations are assessing the situation, with assistance from a nearby farm providing water to cool the vehicle’s tank. Police have said while transfer is going on the other lane is clear for motorists to use.
