THE usually sleepy Glendale Township in Mazowe reverberated with baseline
sounds from Glendale Country Club last Saturday night as Zimbabwe’s crème de la
crème of artists teamed up to send thousands of music lovers into euphoria,
celebrating former Vice President Joseph Msika’s life.
Gates opened as early as 5pm and four hours later the venue was already bursting
at the seams.
Many braved the drop in temperatures that characterised the day since morning.
Young afro-pop sensation Gidza Boy, ignited the party as he opened the show,
punching out hits; Mhamha, Ndakushaina and Vana Hatichaziva.
Bethany Pasinawako was also on fire, representing the gospel genre, she bellowed
her best and even the drunk could be seen bopping their heads to her sweet
melodies.
The line-up of artists was just one of the best ever, after Pasinawako and a few other
artists, it was Jah Signal’s time and the whole arena within a few of his chants, was
already in a delirium.
The Ndoda Kupinda Bako singer belted hit after hit including the all-time smash
piece; Wakauya wega kuzogara pano.
Dressed in the best designer wear, Jah Signal took many down memory lane singing
his yesteryear hits and many others.
Mathias Mhere was not to be outclassed, after recognising artisanal miners, gwejas.
Addressing multitudes of his and Zanu PF supporters in Centenary, where he had a
star rally, President Mnangagwa called on those who could, to attend the gala.
Admission was free.
The National AIDS Council, Doves and a few other essential services providers were
also in attendance offering their services.
The gala was meant to celebrate the late former Vice President Joseph “Bruno”
Msika, one of the many revered liberation war heroes and nationalists to emerge
from Mashonaland Central.
