GWERU – Four people, including two women, were arrested for stealing a herd of 27 cattle at Stains
Farm in Gweru.
The fifth suspect is however, on the run.
Midlands police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said the four were arrested on February
3 during an investigation of a fresh case of theft of the 27 cattle.
The arrested have been identified as Yvonne Ndabazonke (24) of 26 Taskon road Ivene, Gweru,
Chido Machingura (18) of Redcliff Kwekwe, Nehemia Muza (70) and Shepherd Muza (43) both of
Riverside B farm, Amatava, Kwekwe.
The gang leader Ndabazonke is an ex-wife to complainant, Peter Tandari.
It is alleged that on January 21, Ndabazonke teamed up with her accomplices Chido Machingura and
another unidentified man and went to Stains Farm where they stole 27 cattle and drove them to Plot
16 Riverside B farm, Kwekwe,” he said.
The cattle valued at US$15 000 were kept in the custody of Nehemia, and were allegedly being
headed by Shepherd Muza at the plot.
On February 3, investigations resulted in police arresting the four suspects and all the stolen 27
cattle were recovered.
He said the arrest comes soon after another arrest of four suspects caught red-handed while
slaughtering six cattle they had stolen from plot 29 Hillerview, Lalapanzi.
Insp. Mahoko thanked members for the public for supplying helpful information that led to the
arrest of the suspects.
He said investigations are going on and they appeal for information about the outstanding fifth
suspect who was involved during the theft at Stains Farm.
Cases of stock theft have been on the increase in the province with police making efforts to curb it.
