Harare, (New Ziana) – President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who is also the First Secretary of ZANU PF, has urged members of the Central Committee to recommit themselves to disciplined, ideologically grounded and people-centered leadership, warning that complacency and mediocrity do not have a place in the revolutionary party.

Officially opening the ZANU PF High-Level Strategic Seminar Workshop at the Party Convention Centre in Gweru on Friday, President Mnangagwa said the gathering was meant to strengthen leadership capacity and renew commitment to the Party’s founding values.

“This gathering is not for show. It must be a platform for honest introspection and renewal,” he said, adding that Central Committee members carry a heavy responsibility in shaping the country’s development trajectory.

President Mnangagwa reminded delegates that ZANU PF’s mandate is anchored on delivering tangible improvements in the lives of Zimbabweans, in line with the national vision to become an upper middle income society by 2030.

Emphasizing loyalty and discipline, he warned that the party should always come before individual interests.

“The Party is bigger than all of us Central Committee members,” he said, and urged leaders to exercise self-discipline, humility and respect when dealing with the masses.

He stressed that the Central Committee occupies a strategic position as the principal decision-making organ of the Party between congresses, with a constitutional duty to implement resolutions and supervise Government programs in line with Party policy.

“We are custodians of Party discipline, guardians of ideological consistency and standard-bearers of collective leadership,” he said.

Turning to Party mobilization, the President said ZANU PF must adapt its strategies to reflect changing demographics and the growing influence of technology, while safeguarding its ideology.

“The identity, ideology, ethos and character of the Party should never change. However, our strategies on growing membership and winning the hearts and minds of the people must be fluid, innovative and forward-looking,” he said, and challenged Party leaders to fully utilize new media platforms responsibly.

“Let us use the media to promote unity of purpose around our shared national vision and not as a tool for egos or opportunistic behaviour,” he added.

President Mnangagwa dismissed entitlement to positions, saying authority is earned through service and integrity, while reiterating ZANU PF’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption, inefficiency and negligence, warning that these vices threaten national development.

Addressing national interests and security, the President called on Party leaders to act as ambassadors of the country, defending sovereignty while promoting investment and peaceful international relations.

“Zimbabwe is our inheritance. Our country is not and will never be for sale,” he said.

He commended the Central Committee for maintaining unity within the Party and the nation, saying ZANU PF remains the anchor of the country’s stability and development.

“Together as a united Party leadership, we have ensured that our sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity are not tampered with,” he said.
