Harare,  (New Ziana) –President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Thursday challenged members of the Central Committee of the ruling ZANU PF party to work hard and hold robust discussions that help Zimbabweans to be adequately informed on the country’s new development blueprint, the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS-2).

The NDS-2, which was launched last week, is premised on Zimbabwe’s priorities spanning across all developmental dimensions, and is fully aligned with regional, continental, and global development frameworks, including the SADC Regional Indicative Strategic Development Plan (2020-2030), the African Union Agenda 2063, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (2015-2030).

“As the year ends and 2026 begins, unity, hard, honest work, determination, and zeal must see us achieve more in the years ahead. We convene following the presentation of the defining and transformational NDS-2, as well as the 2026 national budget. These policy instruments embody the aspirations of our people and the various resolutions of our party’s Conferences and Congresses.

“The Central Committee is now called upon to have robust discussions around these guiding policies. As stipulated in our Constitution, the Central Committee has a critical duty regarding the implementation of policies, resolutions, decisions, projects, and programmes of the party. Let us also facilitate the necessary conversations within our party’s grassroots structures towards the understanding and implementation of the NDS-2. Let us guarantee the seamless coordination, tracking, and supervision of this five-year plan for more people-centred development milestones,” President Mnangagwa said.

Strategic Workshop Seminars for both the Central Committee and the Politburo scheduled for next year will help to equip members with key tenets of the NDS-2.

President Mnangagwa made it clear that the resources availed by the ruling party to the Central Committee, Leagues, and affiliates should be used to advance the ideals of Zanu PF and consolidate the party’s membership base.

Provinces that are establishing permanent party offices at provincial and district levels were commended for their efforts, with President Mnangagwa hinting that the facilities are important for the party’s professional, effective, and well-coordinated administration systems.

He challenged the Central Committee and the Hebert Chitepo School of Ideology to scale up continuous ideological training for all Zanu PF members to be acquainted with the party’s core tenets.

“We remain the only vehicle for the accelerated realisation of lasting socio-economic growth and a brighter, prosperous future for Zimbabwe. Our policies continue to transform the quality of life of our people,” President Mnangagwa added.
