Bulawayo, (New Ziana)-The Bulawayo City Council (BCC) has completed the draft valuation roll for all properties, a crucial step that will enable the local authority to develop effective urban planning strategies.
The initiative follows the launch of the city’s general revaluation and assessment program, which includes scheduled visits by evaluators throughout the city to ensure accurate rental charges.
In a statement on Tuesday, Town Clerk Christopher Dube confirmed that property owners can now access the valuation roll.
“In accordance with Section 254 of the Urban Councils Act (Chapter 29:15), we hereby notify the public that a draft valuation roll for all properties within the boundaries of Bulawayo has been completed,” he said.
A copy of the draft valuation roll is available for inspection at the Bulawayo Customer Contact Centre, located on the ground floor of the Tower Block Municipal Offices on Leopold Takawira Avenue.
The facility is open to any property owner, occupier, or authorized representative.
Dube urged property owners to submit any objections regarding the draft valuation roll in writing.
“I encourage owners and occupiers of properties to lodge any objections they may have against the valuation of non-residential properties or the apportionment of such valuations with the clerk of the valuation board,” he said.
“Objections may also pertain to the assessment of residential properties, particularly concerning the number of rating units assigned or the rating zone designated for the property.
“Any errors, omissions, or incorrect descriptions related to properties should be reported to the council by February 7, 2025. Copies of the prescribed objection forms can be obtained from the Bulawayo Customer Contact Centre.”
