KWEKWE-based gospel artist, Julia Nyengera, will launch her third studio album this year.
The album titled Nguva yakwana, promises to be a powerful and uplifting collection of songs that
will inspire and encourage listeners. With her powerful vocals, heartfelt lyrics, and unwavering faith,
she is sure to make a lasting impact on the music industry and the lives of those who hear her
message.
Some of the tracks on the forthcoming album are Kune Hondo, Joshua, Jesus reigns and Tamani
Ambuye.
The album was recorded at Layton's Studio and was produced by Layton Ngolomi. All the songs were
backed by Bethan Ngolomi.
“I am still negotiating with other artists who l am looking forward to collaborate with,” said Mai
Nyengera.
She recorded her first album titled Jesus Wangu in 2013. It was followed by her second album titled
NdiJesu Wenyasha, which featured Bethan Ngolomi. She has done videos for the songs, Nzimwe
Nguva, Broken heart, Amanikondaine and Yahwe.
Her talent in the music industry paid off in 2020 when she scooped the Kwekwe Arts Merit Award
best female gospel artist award.
Mai Nyengera draws her inspiration from the word of God and is encouraging other women to rise
and positively influence the world, giving hope and faith that with God all things are possible.
“I am inspired by the word of God and my music serves to encourage women to rise and influence
the world positively. It also serves to give hope to the hopeless and faith, teaching people that with
God, all things are possible.
“I am also inspired by Mother Chimuka and Dorcas Moyo. Moreso, to preach the end time message
that people must repent and come back to the Lord because his kingdom is at hand,” said the Mbizo-
based artist.
Mai Nyengera said female artists should be given a platform to showcase their talents to get much-
needed exposure.
“In our country Zimbabwe, I think female artists should be given platforms to showcase their talents
in so doing they will have exposure and also their music must be promoted so that their music
reaches greater heights and also a lot of encouragement is needed to uplift them.”
She highlighted the challenges faced by female artists in the music industry, which include lack of
exposure, financial support, airplay, and low self-esteem.
"I believe that women have a unique perspective on life and can bring a lot of value to the music
industry. However, we often face challenges that make it hard for us to succeed. I hope that by
sharing my story and my music, I can inspire other women to pursue their dreams and make their
mark in the industry," she said.
Mai Nyengera paid tribute to her husband Tobias Nyengera, spiritual parents Apostle Chrispen
Mahovo and Prophetess Yvonne Mahovo, family, and friends for their unwavering support.
"I am truly blessed to have such a supportive network of people around me. These special people
gave me hope and they encouraged me to press on, so this kept me going. I know that without their
encouragement and prayers, I wouldn't be where I am today.
“So for a woman to be successful, she must not forget that she has a family which needs her love
and attention too, so I create time for both my music and my family,” said Mai Nyengera, a mother
of four.
“I am also grateful to God for the gift of music, which has allowed me to touch people's hearts and
share the message of hope and faith."
She also thanked God for the talent and the opportunity to share her message through music.
“Music is not a part-time thing to me, it's a full time job. I live music, even at my church l am on the
Praise team, I love music, I eat music wherever I am there is music,” said Mai Nyengera, a member
of the Heal the World Ministries.
