Election nomination courts open

New Ziana > World > Election nomination courts open

Harare (New Ziana) – Nomination courts to register candidates for the upcoming presidential, parliamentary and local government elections opened early morning on Wednesday in Harare, and were similarly expected to do so countrywide.

The country holds general elections on August 23, 2023 to elect new presidential, parliamentary and local government representatives for the next five years.

Several parties are expected to register to take part in the polls, but the main battle is between the ruling ZANU-PF party, and the biggest opposition Citizens Coalition for Change party.

In the last election in 2018, ZANU-PF won a two-thirds majority in parliament, and its presidential candidate, President Emmerson Mnangagwa, also comfortably secured victory.

President Mnangagwa is standing again in the upcoming election.
