GWERU — Anderson Adventist High School has been awarded the Secretarys Merit Award for
consistently producing the best results in the Midlands province in the “O” and “A” Level categories.
The school recorded 100 percent pass rate from 2019 to 2021.
The school received the award from the Permanent Secretary for Primary and Secondary Education
Tumisani Thabela at a ceremony held at the school recently.
Thabela praised Anderson High for delivering the best results through its education system which
consists of theory and practical learning schemes.
She said Anderson is ranked as one of the best schools in Zimbabwe due to its consistent pass rate in
both and levels which shows that the school prioritises education over everything else which
is what is expected in the education sector.
We commend you for having gone digital through the use of smart classrooms by providing
projectors and smart boards in most of your classrooms and also encouraging your students to buy
smart phones and laptops so that learning can become easier and smart, she said.
Thabela said the move by the school to go digital through E-learning should be adopted by other
schools as it reduces the amount of labour on both students and teachers and makes education
more interesting.
She commended Anderson High for expanding its learning systems from theory to practicals with
educators teaching children how to venture into the commercial industry at secondary level.
The school has agricultural projects which include poultry, cattle rearing, bee keeping, aqua culture
and other projects such as building and cooking which help children to know and practically apply
what they would have learnt.
The permanent secretary applauded Anderson headmaster for being an exemplary leader who
works hard to make sure that the school progresses and meets its expected targets every time.
Thabela congratulated the school headmaster Mr. Caxton Mukasvanga for receiving the Secretarys
Merit Award for the second time with the first being at Nyahuni Adventist School 10 years ago.
Mukasvanga said the award serves as a model of inspiration for the great work that is being done by
the various departments at the school.
I want to thank the staff especially teachers who work tirelessly to make sure that our children pass
with flying colours, the Ministry of Education which is helping us to achieve our curriculum education
goals and also the parents who are supporting us by paying fees and adhering to all requirements
needed for the progress of the school, he said.
Apart from receiving the Secretarys Merit Award the school also received a projector, laptops and
Ipads.
