IN a development aimed at curbing stock theft, the Zimbabwe Republic Police is seeking
permission from Gwanda Rural District Council (GRDC) to set up sub-stations in Guyu and
Mandihongola.
Gwanda Rural District Council social service chairperson, Cllr Thompson Makhalima,
confirmed the development.
He said that the police move came at a time farmers in the two areas have lost livestock due
to rampant cases of stock theft in their areas.
The development has been hailed by a rural anti-stock theft group, Gohole Diasporian
Vulture, which is chaired by Victor Sibanda.
It will be of great impact as we seek to eradicate cases of stock theft, which have reached
alarming levels, said Sibanda.
The initiative is set to be discussed further during a full-council meeting which is due to be
held shortly.
