Gweru (New Ziana) -The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) Central Region Soccer League has entered into a three-year annual sponsorship deal worth US$25 000 with a local company, Ruvimbo Funeral Assurance Services.

Central Soccer League acting chairperson Thomas Marambanyika said the sponsorship deal would run up to 2025 with an option to renew.

Marambanyika said the sponsorship would enhance competitiveness in the region as teams had something to play for.

“This sponsorship demonstrates how, as a region, we are able to attract sponsors as a brand through our good corporate governance, and our desire to see football development happening.

Marambanyika said league officials were engaging other sponsors and were confident that by the time the season kicked off, one or two would have come on board to sponsor league cup games.

Ruvimbo Funeral Assurance chief executive officer Edward Gomba said the financial support was meant to cushion the CRSL in its operations.

“We settled for the Central Region Soccer League for a reason. The region falls at the heart of the country and it’s a good launch pad for us to reach out to all the parts of the country,” he said.

Meanwhile, Marambanyika said league winners would walk away with US$7 000, the first runner up would receive US$3 00, the second runner up US$1 000 while the remaining teams would each get US$500.

The most disciplined team would get US$550, with prize money for outstanding players, referee and coach, while the best 11 players in the league would also be honoured.
