A grandparent of an 18-year-old with intellectual challenge from Ntepe area is appealing for help
to send her grandchild back to school after he dropped out in 2020 school due to financial
constraints.
Nicky Moyo, was abandoned by his mother who went to South Africa several years ago in
search of greener pastures, leaving him and two siblings under the care of their grandmother,
Percy Dube, who is old and unable to make ends meet.
Dube said she had been selling the few goats that she had to send her grandchildren to school
until she was left with none.
She appealed to people from all walks of life to assist her in raising fees and groceries for Nicky
so that he can be able to return to school instead of remaining at home and being idle.
I appeal for help in terms of money for school fees and transport and also groceries required by
the institution so that he can go and learn with others instead of sitting at home, said
grandmother Dube.
Councillor for the area in Ward 13 Miclas Ndlovu, described Nicky as someone who is well
behaved regardless of the mental condition that he has.
“Nicky is a well-behaved boy, who you will never see engaging in fights regardless of his state.
He has been to school before and has a clean disciplined record and is even eager to return and
learn with others, said Councillor Ndlovu.
